1. What Mapfolks Is

Mapfolks does not provide real-time GPS tracking and does not share precise coordinates by default.
2. Eligibility

- Have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
By using Mapfolks, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Accounts and Authentication
To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and current information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
You are responsible for safeguarding access tokens, email links, and third-party authentication methods (such as Google sign-in).
4. Location Data and Privacy
4.1 Location Sharing

- You choose who can see your location
- You can revoke access at any time
Mapfolks does not:
- Track movement history
- Expose precise GPS coordinates by default
- Sell location data
- Share location data with third parties
4.2 Accuracy Disclaimer
Location data may be:
- User-provided
- Estimated from IP or browser signals
- Outdated or inaccurate
You agree not to rely on Mapfolks for:
- Emergency services
- Safety-critical decisions
- Legal, medical, or law-enforcement purposes
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Mapfolks to stalk, harass, or surveil others
- Share another person's location without their consent
- Attempt to bypass privacy, security, or access controls (exceptions: privacy/security bounty-related penetration testing)
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
- Use the Service for illegal or malicious purposes
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Invitations and Connections
- Connections are explicit and mutual
- Invitation links are personal and expire automatically
- You are responsible for whom you invite
We are not responsible for consequences of sharing location access with others.
7. Third-Party Services
Mapfolks relies on third-party services (e.g., maps, authentication, email delivery).
We are not responsible for:
- Downtime or errors caused by third-party providers
- Changes in third-party APIs or policies
Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms.
8. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in Mapfolks—including:
- Software
- Design
- Branding
- Text and graphics
belong to Mapfolks or its licensors.
You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the Service without permission.
9. User Content
You retain ownership of content you provide (such as team names or avatars).
By using the Service, you grant Mapfolks a limited, non-exclusive license to use that content solely to operate the Service.
We do not claim ownership of your personal data.
10. Service Availability
Mapfolks is provided "as is" and "as available."
We do not guarantee:
- Continuous availability
- Error-free operation
- That the Service will meet all expectations

You may stop using Mapfolks at any time.

- The Service is discontinued
Upon termination, your access to the Service will end.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service (if any) in the last 12 months.

Continued use of Mapfolks after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Mapfolks operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
